The current principals of SRS developed the idea of an intermediary for
financial guaranty insurance in 1980, anticipating prospective convergence
of the banking, insurance, and capital markets. Drawing upon the critical
disciplines of investment banking, insurance, finance, and engineering,
the principals of SRS created a unique multi-disciplined group capable of
capitalizing on the converging markets. From that initial venture, the
current structured finance and securitization unit emerged. The original
company was known as Securities Guaranty Insurance Services (SGI) and was
very active in US
securitization and credit enhancement in the capital markets.
In 1990,
the principals of SGI entered a joint venture with Special Risk Services,
Ltd., a global London
based Lloyd's of London insurance broker. Together the structured finance
group matured to specialize exclusively in providing services to the
financial banking and capital market sectors worldwide.
SRS was
acquired in 1995 by Minet Limited, a London based top
ten global insurance broker firm (owned by the St. Paul Companies). In
April of 1997, the AON Group purchased Minet
and the SRS team became a member of AON Capital Markets, the investment
banking and financial division of AON Group. Based in Chicago, AON is currently the world's
second largest insurance broker and risk management consulting firm.
SRS was purchased from the AON Group in April
1999 by the current principals and continues its activity and
specialization in securitization, structured finance, and the placement
of financial guarantee insurance and other forms of credit enhancement in
capital market transactions worldwide.
